Washington County Hospital Administrator Retiring

Longtime Washington County Hospital Administrator Everett Lutjemeier is retiring on July 1st. Lutjemeier served as administrator for 20 years. A retirement party honoring Lutjemeier will be held in the basement of the Firest National Bank on Thursday, June 30th from 4 to 6 P.M. Flip of a coin adds Ken Johnson to the Washington County School Board

Washington County school board candidates, Ken Johnson and Dana Cecrle each received one more vote from provisional ballots, keeping them tied. The county commissioners flipped a coin and Johnson won the flip, so he will be the new school board member.

The Washington County Hospital is again open to the visiting public. The hospital was closed to visitors temporarily because of a gastric flu outbreak.

Propane Heater Starts Fire

On Saturday the Washington Fire Department was dispatched to 1548 17th Road for the report of a propane fire. A propane heater that was setting on top of a small propane bottle fell over. The only damage was to the propane heater and bottle.

Jake Carlson injury update – Thanks to Washington County News

The Washington County News “Talked to some Valley Heights fans tonight and found out Jake Carlson is doing well, even walking without crutches after severely dislocating his knee during a Valley Heights vs. Centralia football game. Extra precaution was taken with the injury as Carlson was life-flighted from the field to a hospital. Glad to hear he is doing well.”
