Unemployment Rates Fall In Northeast Kansas

Unemployment rates fell throughout most of Northeast Kansas last month. Marshall County had an unemployment rate of 3.6%, Washington County was at 3.3%, Nemaha County was at 3.0%, Riley County was at 3.9%, and Pottawatomie County was at 4.3%. Statewide the jobless rate fell below 6% for the first time since December 2008 at 5.9%, down from 6.2% in August. Read More »

Washington County couple receive maximum penalties

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has announced that a Washington County couple has received maximum sentences for child sex crimes.  Troy Jerald Fencil, age 40 of Greenleaf, was sentenced to 218 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.  He pleaded guilty last month to charges of aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties, and sexual exploitation of a child.  Virgina Fencil, ... Graduation Ceremonies Scheduled

Thursday the Linn Fire Department was dispatched to 711 South Horizon Linn for a fire. Linn Student Arrested for Terroristic Threats

On Thursday October 6th Washington County officers were dispatched to Linn High School. After an investigation a juvenile was taken into custody on pending charges of Criminal Threat.
