JaCorey Shepherd Named Finalist for Haier Ultimate Achievement Award



Eight student-athletes who have been recognized this year for success beyond sports, including Kansas football's JaCorey Shepherd, are finalists for the inaugural Haier Ultimate Achievement Award . The award, which is presented to deserving student-athletes by Haier America and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), will be determined by an online vote through April 3rd at http://achieve.haieramerica.com.

Prairie Hills USD 113 School Board meeting Monday discussed the Capital Outlay Resolution for a  continuous and permanent 8 mill tax, which was defeated by voters, and instead adopted a resolution for a six mill levy for a period of five years, which was approved on a 6-1 board vote.

Gage County Voters Head To The Polls On Tuesday

Gage County voters go to the polls Tuesday for primary elections. Republicans Bob Tiemann and Roy Baker are vying for District 30 State Senator, that position currently held by Norm Wallman. One race for Board of Supervisors has Erich Tiemann challenging incumbent Kathy Setzer, and Beatrice voters will vote on a proposed sales tax increase to help fund the street department.
