Beatrice City Administrator, Neal Niedfelt said work will start on a ten mile trail segment of the Homestead Trail which will eventually reach from Lincoln, Nebraska to Marysville, KS. In 2008 Beatrice received a grant for 493,000 dollars from the federal Transportation Enhancement Program. Beatrice will pay twenty percent of the cost through in-kind services.
