Flags Ordered to Fly at Half Staff to Honor Slain Officer

United States and State of Kansas flags have been ordered to fly at half staff on Thursday to honor Sgt. David Enzbrenner, a 24-year veteran of the Atchison Police Department.  Enzbrennerwas killed last Friday by 25-year-old Skyler Barbee.  Barbee shot Enzbrenner and then killed himself. Kansas Flags to Fly At Half Staff Friday

Flags across Kansas will fly at half-staff Friday in honor of Sergeant Alexander Bennett who died August 6th while serving in Afghanistan. 24-year-old Bennett, of Overland Park, was one of 30 killed when their helicopter crashed after taking enemy fire. Two other Kansans died in the same indicent. Sergeant Bennett will be buried Friday in Arlington National Cemetery. Read More »

USD 115 Hires Certified and Office Staff

The Nemaha Central USD 115 temporary board of education has extended contract offers to certified staff for the 2011-2012 school year. Superintendent Darrel Kohlman said the action followed a closed door session during a special meeting Monday evening.  The board also approved the terms and conditions of employment for the teaching staff and hiring of the central office staff.
