Second Suspect Arrested in Bern School Burglary

The Nemaha County Sheriff‘s Department has arrested 30-year-old Brandon Frye of Oneida Friday on a Nemaha County warrant charging him with burglary, theft and criminal damage to property. The warrant was the result of an investigation into a burglary last month at the Bern school. Frye was also arrested on a second warrant for probation violation. Frye remains in the ... Read More »

BSDC to Begin Second Round of Layoffs

The Beatrice State Developemental Center in Beatrice announced it will begin layoffs this spring. Jodi Fenner, director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, said layoff plans had been forwarded to administrators at the center, but no layoff notices have been handed out. Lovewell Lake Closed for a Second Week

It will be closed until at least next Friday, July 30th. That was the order issued by the Kansas State Department of Health and Environment yesterday after the latest test of water from the lake still had dangerous toxin levels.
