Owner Blames EPA for Business Closure

Since 1997, Setzer’s manufacturing and HeatSource 1 in Beatrice will discontinue the manufacturing of their outdoor wood furnaces immediately. State is Delinquint on School Payments

A Kansas Department of Education official says the state has delayed a contribution to educators‘ pensions and postponed half of its monthly general state aid payments to school districts. Pickup Crashes into Home Injuring One

A person allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol hit a home in rural Washington County.  Early Saturday morning a pickup hit the side of the Charlie Walter residence, injuring Walter.  The Washington County Sheriff’s Office informed KNDY that they would issue a press release on Tuesday. Vehicle stolen in Hanover

Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to 109 East Elm Street in Hanover to take a report regarding the theft of a vehicle.  According to a Washington County Press Release a 2001 GMC truck registered to Midwest Product Hanover was taken from the residence.  The vehicle was recovered later in the evening and the investigation is still pending. Cuts at State Ag Department

State budget cuts have forced Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Josh Svaty to temporarily suspend inspections in hotels across the State of Kansas. In a press conference yesterday Svaty said, the suspensions are a result of Governor Mark Parkinson’s cutting $303,000 from the Agriculture Department’s budget.
