One Killed In Randolph Shooting Accident

The Riley County Police report that an accidental shooting this morning in Randolph left one person dead. Police have ruled out suicide, but declined to to identify the victim of the shooting. A full report will be released on Tuesday by the Riley County Police Department.

Manley To Fill Vacant USD 108 School Board Position

Rhonda Manley of Washington will fill an unexpired term for District Two on the Washington County USD 108 School Board. Randy Hubbard resigned from the position in November, the term runs through June of 2015. Manley was the only person who had expressed interest in the position, which will be up for election next year.

Teen With Marshall County Ties Fatally Shot In Davenport, Iowa

An eighteen year old, with Marshall County ties, was fatally shot in Davenport, Iowa Friday morning. Thomas Nye Taylor, son of Todd Taylor, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities termed it an isolated incident, and the person responsible for firing the weapon was interviewed. The investigation into the accident, which was reported around 4:30 a.m. Friday in Davenport remains under investigation. Graveside services were ...

Man found dead in Nemaha County

The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of Wendell “Bunk” McLaughlin, age 77, of rural Corning on late Sunday evening.  The reports states that officers responded to a missing person report in southern Nemaha County, where family members said they were unable to find him.  After a short search, they found McLaughlin dead.  No other information was given in the report.
