Cold Weather Rule In Effect

The Cold weather rule has taken effect and will remain in effect through March 31st.  The Cold weather rule prohibits utility companies from disconnecting a customer’s natural gas or electric service during extreme cold periods.  The rule also requires the utility companies to offer a 12 month payment plan that allows cunsumers to maintain or re-establish utility service. Former Marshall County Insurance Agent Indicted

A former Marshall County insurance agent has been indicted on charges of stealing more than $480,000 in customers’ premiums. Monica Smart, age 48, of Frankfort, Kansas, is charged with two counts of mail fraud and seven counts of wire fraud. Counterfeit Bills Passed in Downtown Marysville

Several counterfeit $20 bills were used as payment to businesses in downtown Marysville.  According to the Marysville Police the bills were given as payment for purchases at several downtown store.  Police immediately notified businesses through the Chamber of Commerce.  Police have identified a person of interest and forwarded the investigation to the Marshall County Attorney’s office.  County Attorney Laura Johnson-McNish ... State Delays Public School Payments Again

It sounds very familiar… the State of Kansas has delayed some of its monthly aid payments to public schools. The delinquent March payment makes it the 6th consecutive month all or some of the state payment had been delayed. Washington County Hospital proceeds with bond process.
