U.S. Senator Pat Roberts announced Tuesday that the U.S. Department of Agriculture that Marshall County had be designated as a primary natural disaster area.  The designation was the result of damage sustained during severe weather that occurred from May 6-June 20. 100 mph winds hit Manhattan

Riley County Emergency Management Director Pat Collins informed the Riley County Commissioners that two storms passed over Manhattan on Friday.  Collins said he contacted the Geary County EMS and winds measured about 50 mph. Marshall County Rural Fire Department receives grant money

U.S. Senator Pat Roberts has announced more than $690,000 in thirteen grants to Kansas firefighters to improve homeland security.
