Lawrence Man Arrested In Trailer Theft In Seneca

Nemaha County authorities arrested a Lawrence man, 55-year-old James W. Boyd in connection with the theft of a trailer parked at a Seneca business. A citizen had taken the vehicle tag April 8, noticing the suspicious vehicle. A cut padlock was found at the scene. Follow up investigation led to a rural Marshall County residence, and Boyd was subsequently located and stopped north ... Disabling Injuries Reported In Train Collision

A train collided with a farm sprayer a mile west of Baileyville Friday morning. Bruce Buessing, 42, of Axtell was crossing the tracks on C Road; just north of U.S. Highway 36 in Nemaha County shortly before 8:30 a.m. Buessing suffered disabling injuries, and was transported to the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. A Fairbury man was killed Friday afternoon on U.S. Highway 77 near the Riley/Marshall County line. Twenty-Three year old Colton J. Schoenrock was northbound on Highway 77, went off the road into the west ditch and struck a tree, vaulted a driveway, landing on the passenger side. Wheat Harvest Appears To Be In Good Shape

A late wheat harvest this summer still proved encouraging for area farmers. With a yield average reported at 47-48 bushel per acre, some fields topped 80 bushels. Local Resident Finds Armadillo Near Centralia

A rural Centralia resident recently found an Armadillo, which was apparently killed by the family dogs. Tom Holthaus reported the 18” critter to the game warden. Armadillos in recent years have continued a slow migration north. Read More »

KDOT Approves K-15 Bridge Construction Project
