Fatality Accident Reported April 12th In Nemaha County

On April 12th at 6:49 p.m. The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle fatality accident. A 1995 Ford pickup driven by Katina J. Injury Accident Reported Near Georgia Pacific Plant

An injury accident was reported March 31st on U.S. Highway 77 near Sunflower Road, north of the Georgia Pacific plant near Blue Rapids. Anthony Porter, 21, of Manhattan lost control, his vehicle rolled 2 1/2 times. Porter was taken to Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville, where he was treated and released.

Injury Accident Reported In Washington County

An injury accident was reported in Washington County on February 17th. Mitchell Meyer of Hanover had stopped to assist a driver on Highway K-148, just north of 27th Road, whose vehicle had slid on the snow into the ditch, and was struck by Michael Klaus of Odell. Both Meyer and Klaus were taken to the Hanover Hospital.

Marshall County Preservation Projects Get Boosts

Historic preservation efforts in Marshall County received a boost Friday, with Kansas Heritage Trust Fund recommending $90,000 grants to the Frankfort Grade School, and Waterville Opera House renovation projects. They were among 53 applications submitted statewide. Blaine Resident Killed In K-13 Auto Crash Friday

A Blaine man, Warren Berg, 57, was killed Friday afternoon in a two vehicle crash on Highway K-13, 12 miles north of Manhattan. He had crossed the center line colliding head-on with Rickie Maginness, 61, of Westmoreland. That driver and a passenger, Frank Wege, 76, of Olsberg were not injured. The accident happened shortly after 1 p.m.

Injury Accident Sends Nebraska Man To Hospital

An injury accident was reported Monday afternoon, shortly before 1 p.m., ten miles north of Marysville on U.S. Highway 77. Justin James, 28, of Sangar, Nebraska lost control, crossing the center line, then hit a guardrail and went into the ditch. He was transported to Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

K-DOT Announces Swede Creek Bridge Replacement; Highway Sealing Projects

The Kansas Department of Transportation recently announced approved bids for construction and maintenance projects, including a two million dollar replacement of the Swede Creek Bridge a mile north of the Riley County line on U.S. Highway 77, and 17 miles sealing Highway K-148 from the Republic County line east to the Highway K-148/K-9 intersection.

Fire Calls Keep Marysville Fire Department Busy

Marysville firemen answered three calls recently. On November 10th, a controlled burn had flared up north of Hall Bros. Construction. Smoke was reported when a light fixture failed that evening at a home rented by John Mathis at 411 N. 15th Street, and November 11th a pile of leaves was reported on fire along May Street between Third and Fourth.

A Texas man was injured Thursday morning north of Hanover on Highway K- 148, when he lost control of his truck, went into the ditch and overturned. The driver, Richard Garza of Edinburgh, Texas was taken to Hanover Hospital by E.M.S.

The Marysville City Council met Monday. Following discussion, they approved easements as dedicated for the Bulldog Apartment Complex, proposed just east of the Senior Housing Duplexes.
