New group forms to try and acquire and preserve the U.P. Depot

A new group was formed this week set to restore the former U.P. Depot for public use and promotion of rail history. The group will be called the Marysville U.P. Depot Preservation Society. New football coach hired at Washington County High School

Washington County School District hired a new football coach at their last meeting on March 11. Daniel Vaughn of Elkhart was hired to replace Phil Wilson, who will stay on as high school principal. New pre-K thru 4th Grade school planned in Axtell

A committee has recommended that a new elementary school building be built in Axtell for pre-kindergarten thru 4th grade.  The USD 113 Board of Education has already planned to close the elementary school in Summerfield at the end of the current school year.  The Board will have the architectural firm Hansen and Associates work with the building committee on designs. New Administrator Named for Hollenberg Pony Express Station
