Work Begins On Wind Farm In Marshall County

Preliminary work has begun on a wind farm in northeast Marshall County. The $4.5 million project will include 30 turbines, generating 75 megawatts of power. Thirty-two landowners of some 7,300 acres have leased land to the Iowa developer of the Marshall Wind Energy Farm. Marshall County A Top Soybean Producer In Kansas

Recent rains have boosted farmers’ hopes for an improved fall harvest. Marshall County is among the state’s top soybean producing counties. Last year farmers planted 149,000 acres to beans, the most of any county. However, yields after a dry summer last year put Marshall County behind Brown County, tops in the State of Kansas in production totals. Read More »

Resurfacing Project Underway On K-9, K-99 & K-87 in Marshall County

Road construction in Marshall County began this week on a resurfacing project on K-9, K-99, and K-87. Work began on K-9 west of Frankfort. K-87 and K-99 work will follow. Traffic through the construction zone is being flagged, with a pilot car. Completion is not expected until early October. Kansas Department of Transportation has the route outline on their website. Three Marshall Countians run Boston Marathon, escape uninjured by bombs
