Ronald Lee Hastings of Bern was the victim of an industrial accident Tuesday morning at the Fairview Mills plant in Hiawatha. Hiawatha Police Chief John Defore reports that Hastings was working with a piece of machinery when he became entangled with it. Hastings was reported dead at the scene of the accident by authorities. Train Derails Southeast of Fairbury
41 coal cars jumped the tracks southeast of Fairbury early Sunday morning around 1 a.m. The Union Pacific said that the train was eastbound pulling 142 cars total.
