Hassler has No Comment on Firing

Washington City Administrator Kurt Hassler was terminated by the Washington City Council during a special meeting on Thursday. Hassler was hired by the city of Washington in June of 2008. Unemployment rates increase across Kansas

Marshall, Nemaha, and Washington County unemployment rates rose during the month of July.  The Kansas Department of Labor released the July unemployment rates Friday.  Marshall County unemployment rate was 4.6 percent, Washington County was 4.4 percent and Nemaha county was 4.1 percent.  The unemployment rates were up from June, but down from July of 2009.  Statewide, the jobless rate increased ... A Beatrice man was arrested Thursday morning for first degree sexual assault. Marshall County approved for federal aid

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that federal aid has been made available for Kansas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe storms, flooding and tornadoes June 7th to July 21st.  The President’s actions make federal funding available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis.  ... KDOT Awards June Projects; Largest Construction Lettings Ever

Contracts have been awarded for 85 construction projects included in one of the largest monthly lettings ever by the Kansas Department of Transportation. The large number of projects included in the June letting is attributed to T-WORKS, the comprehensive transportation program passed by the 2010 Kansas Legislature.
