Nemaha County Sheriff Recovers Stolen School Property

Nemaha County Sheriff Rich Vernon announced that the Department identified 2 suspects in a burglary case that occurred on June 21st at an area school. Sheriff Vernon announced that Dylan Barrett of Oneida, KS has been arrested for the Burglary. A second suspect is currently being sought. A Topeka man convicted of wounding a Marshall County Sheriff‘s deputy and taking an elderly Blue Rapids woman hostage last June has been sentenced to nearly 83 ½ years in prison. Barneston Bridge Officially Complete

An $850,000 bridge project south of Barneston is officially complete. Gage County Highway Superintendent Marlin Kliewer said the department received notice to proceed with the 95-day project on Aug. 22, 2010. Work on the project began in January 2011 and the finishing touches to the project were completed on June 6. The new bridge has no weight limit. Read More »
