Marysville Fireworks Law

The city of Marysville would like to remind residents that no fireworks of any kind shall be ignited or discharged in city limits between the hours of 10 p.m. and 10 a.m.  On July 4th fireworks may be discharged until midnight.  Fireworks may only be discharged between June 27 the July 5. Macomber Sentenced for Topeka Murder

Stephen A Macomber, age 44 of Topeka was sentenced Tuesday to more than 55 years after being convicted of fatally shooting another man on June 7th.  Shawnee County Judge Debenham sentenced Macomber to 54 years and five months for the murder conviction. Sylvia Exhibit Comes to Koester House

The Koester House will host a special showing of the Sylvia Exhibit from 5-8 pm on Friday.  Sylvia Broughten Koester was born on Valentine’s Day in 1848.  She was a school teacher in Marysville and married Charles Koester on July 25, 1876.  They moved into their new home at 919 Broadway.   Charles and Sylvia had three children.  Sylvia contracted ... Texting While Driving Warnings Done

The Kansas law banning texting while driving took effect July 1, 2010, but officers could only issue warnings for the first six months. As of Jan. 1, 2011, citations may be written with a minimum fine of $60, plus court costs. Read More »
