NEK-CAP Receives Grant Funding To Expand Services

Northeast Kansas Community Action (NEK CAP) has received grant funding that will allow expansion of services in several counties, including Washington, Republic, Jewell, Smith, Mitchell and Osborne. A series of local focus groups will meet in July to help determine needs and priorities. A meeting is planned in Washington on July 11th, noon at Mayberry’s.

Prairie Hills USD 113 Hires Superintendent & Grade School Teacher

Prairie Hills USD 113, at a special meeting Friday, approved a two year contract for Superintendent with Paul Evans, who has served the district as Sabetha High School Principal for fifteen years. He will transition July 1st, replacing Dr. Bill Orth, who resigned as Superintendent May 1st. Evans was reportedly the only candidate interviewed for the position.  Also at the meeting, the board approved ...

Marysville Recycling Dates Moved In June & July

Vandals Strike Valley Heights High School Vocational Building

Vandals reportedly broke into the Valley Heights vocational building at the high school on July 11th. Some $5,000 worth of equipment was reported stolen, including tablets, trimmer, various battery and electric hand tools, plasma cutter and two Nintendo Wii systems.
