Big 12 Names Stigler Track & Field Athlete of the Week



Just over 24 hours after being named NCAA track & field's athlete of the week, Kansas senior Michael Stigler also garnered recognition from the league office when he was named the Big 12's Co-Athlete of the Week Wednesday afternoon. The award, which Stigler shared with Baylor's Travon Bromell and Texas Tech's JaCorian Duffield, is the second weekly conference honor of his KU career.

Stigler Honored as National Track Athlete of the Week



Following his world-leading time at the Texas Relays Friday, Kansas senior Michael Stigler was named the National Athlete of the Week by the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Tuesday morning. The honor was the first of Stigler's career and marked the first time a Jayhawk earned the distinction since Paris Daniels claimed the national award in 2013.

Flags Ordered to Fly at Half Staff to Honor Slain Officer

United States and State of Kansas flags have been ordered to fly at half staff on Thursday to honor Sgt. David Enzbrenner, a 24-year veteran of the Atchison Police Department.  Enzbrennerwas killed last Friday by 25-year-old Skyler Barbee.  Barbee shot Enzbrenner and then killed himself. Kansas Flags to Fly At Half Staff Friday

Flags across Kansas will fly at half-staff Friday in honor of Sergeant Alexander Bennett who died August 6th while serving in Afghanistan. 24-year-old Bennett, of Overland Park, was one of 30 killed when their helicopter crashed after taking enemy fire. Two other Kansans died in the same indicent. Sergeant Bennett will be buried Friday in Arlington National Cemetery.
