The local historical society will be hosting a Pony Express Festival at Hollenberg Station near Hanover on Sunday, August 26. The Hollenberg Station was established in 1857 as a weigh station for groups traveling on the Orergon-California Trail, by Geret and Sophia Hollenberg. June 13th through June 23rd Pony Express riders will carry the mail from Sacramento, Calf. to St. Joseph, Mo., a distance of 1966 miles. The carriers will ride day and night.
