2012-2013 School year to begin soon.

Wheat Harvest Report

Wheat Harvest in the listening area is well under way.    The Southeast Nebraska Coop in Herkimer reports that they are receiving a steady stream of incoming wheat.  The Coop reports that test weights are running between 50 and 63, moisture measuring 11-12, and yield ranging from 30-50 bushel.    In Beattie the Coop reports that weights are running 58-36, ... Local Post Offices Will Remain Open

Several area post offices that were on a list of potential offices to be closed have received a stay of execution – for now.  Instead of closing the offices the Postal Service intends to cut hours from eight-hour days to four hours for Axtell, Baileyville, Beattie, Bremen, Centralia, Greenleaf, Summerfield and Barnes. 97 Tornados Reported In Kansas

97 Tornadoes were reported in Kansas over the Weekend.  The National Weather Service issued the preliminary count on Sunday.  Monday morning Bill Schwinndamann, Marshall County Emergency Preparedness Director reported tornado warnings had been issued for southeast Marshall County including the town of Frankfort.  Schwinndamann said he did not have a confirmed touchdown and damage was relatively light.  He also reported ... Governor Signs Frankfort Boys Memorial Highway Bill

Gov. Sam Brownback on Friday signed a bill designating part of K-99 highway in Marshall County as the Frankfort Boys World War II Memorial Highway. The section tagged in tribute to the community’s sacrifice during WWII will be from Frankfort’s southern limits north to the junction with US-36 highway.
