Livingston Enterprises Fire Ruled Accidental


A fire March 22nd that destroyed four buildings of the Livingston Enterprises hog confinement operation south of Fairbury was ruled accidental by the state fire marshal’s office. Twenty-six area fire departments, including Kansas and Nebraska units responded to the blaze at the 10,000 head swine farrowing complex.

Fire Destroys House South Of Beatrice Tuesday


A fire Tuesday afternoon south of Beatrice destroyed a home near South Tenth and Linden Roads. Wymore, Blue Springs, and Beatrice city and rural fire departments responded three miles south of Beatrice shortly before 5 pm. No one was at home at the time. The state fire marshal was called in to investigate the fire’s origin, which remains undetermined.

Grass Fire Burns Approximately 200 Acres

A rural grass fire was reported on the east side of Nebraska Highway 4 outside of Lewiston.  Fire departments from Burchard, Pawnee City and Filley were called to the grass fire Tuesday afternoon. Fire Burns 40 Acres Near Blue Springs

Local fire departments responded to a harvested corn field on fire at the intersection of 66th and Linden roads near Holmesville Monday afternoon.  Firefighters estimated that 40 acres burned. Blue Springs Firefighters were able to keep the fire from entering the Brethren Cemetery, located about a half mile north of Linden Road.
