Big Blue River Bridge at Blue Rapids Imploded Wednesday (Video)


Highway 77 over the Big Blue River near Blue Rapids was closed for a short time Wednesday afternoon while the old bridge structure was imploded.  The new bridge over the Big Blue opened about 3 weeks ago just south of the old bridge.  The entire project should be finished by late December. Ribbon Cutting held at new Big Blue River Bridge


The new U.S. 77 Big Blue River Bridge near Blue Rapids is nearly completed. In a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday afternoon, signs were unveiled designating the bridge as the 1st Lt. Fire Destroys Apartment

Fire left a Blue Rapids family homeless on Thursday.  Blue Rapids Fire Department responded to the Mesa View Apartments around midday.  The fire was located in the kitchen of one apartment.  The entire apartment and all the furnishings suffered severe smoke, fire and water damage.  The family did not have renter’s insurance.  They have a two year-old and an infant.  ...
