Exmark Recalls Mowers

Exmark is recalling more than 2,000 riding mowers made at its plant in Beatrice. The company says a part on the Quest 42-inch ZRT riding mowers could fail and cause a crash. No injuries have been reported. The recall covers some mowers made in 2009 and 2010.

Homestead Trail Nears Completion From Beatrice to Lincoln

The Homestead Corridor biking and hiking trail will soon connect Beatrice to Lincoln.  Only 10 miles of trail between Pickrell and Cortland are incomplete.  The trail runs parallell to U.S. 77, and should be completed this summer.   Beatrice has secured funding for the project. Dawg’s Hut Owner Dies Unexpectedly

Robyn Riekenberg, longtime owner of Dawg’s Hut Sporting Goods in Beatrice passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning.    Riekenberg  grew up and graduated from Hanover High School in 1980. Allegations of Abuse at Beatrice Developmental Center

The Beatrice State Developmental Center is under investigation once again. The Nebraska State Patrol confirmed Wednesday it is investigating abuse and neglect allegations at one unit in the center. Joekel May Be Headed West

Authorities believe 28-year-old Kyle Joekel may have stolen a white 2000 Buick LeSabre from a Beatrice home Sunday, and could be headed to Montana or Wyoming. Joekel is wanted by Marshall County, Kansas for charges related to a pursuit that ended in a wreck in the town of Oketo on August 21st.
