Beatrice Alco Will Close

Duckwall-ALCO Stores Inc. announced Friday that it plans to close its ALCO location in Beatrice. Friday the store began marking down prices on many items prior to its closing date, which is anticipated by late August. Exmark Recalls Mowers

Exmark is recalling more than 2,000 riding mowers made at its plant in Beatrice. The company says a part on the Quest 42-inch ZRT riding mowers could fail and cause a crash. No injuries have been reported. The recall covers some mowers made in 2009 and 2010. Read More »

Homestead Trail Nears Completion From Beatrice to Lincoln

The Homestead Corridor biking and hiking trail will soon connect Beatrice to Lincoln.  Only 10 miles of trail between Pickrell and Cortland are incomplete.  The trail runs parallell to U.S. 77, and should be completed this summer.   Beatrice has secured funding for the project. Robyn Riekenberg, longtime owner of Dawg’s Hut Sporting Goods in Beatrice passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning.    Riekenberg  grew up and graduated from Hanover High School in 1980.
