Bern Man Killed In Industrial Accident

Ronald Lee Hastings of Bern was the victim of an industrial accident Tuesday morning at the Fairview Mills plant in Hiawatha. Hiawatha Police Chief John Defore reports that Hastings was working with a piece of machinery when he became entangled with it. Hastings was reported dead at the scene of the accident by authorities. 16 year-old Kristina Richey has been found in Brownville, Oregon by the Lynn County Sheriffs Office. Kristina is fine and in good health according to the Sabetha police chief. William Price, the 43 year old Cortland man that authorities have been looking for since last Friday evening, turned himself in to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office late Tuesday morning.  Price allegedly grabbed a .22 caliber pistol Friday evening and began firing shots while his wife fled the house.  She estimates he shot the pistol 20-25 times.  Authorities surrounded the ... The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to rural Olsburg just after 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday on the report of a man being trapped under a skid loader.
