Kansas Flags to Fly At Half Staff Friday

Flags across Kansas will fly at half-staff Friday in honor of Sergeant Alexander Bennett who died August 6th while serving in Afghanistan. 24-year-old Bennett, of Overland Park, was one of 30 killed when their helicopter crashed after taking enemy fire. Two other Kansans died in the same indicent. Sergeant Bennett will be buried Friday in Arlington National Cemetery. Read More »

Governor Brownback Orders Flags to be Flown at Half Staff Friday

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has ordered flags in the state to be flown at half-staff Friday in honor of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Bryan Nichols. Nichols was among 30 Americans killed on August 6th when their helicopter crashed in Afghanistan. Funeral services will be held for the Army Helicopter Pilot in Hays, where he grew up and graduated high school. ... Read More »
