Deadline approaching for Wymore Water Project

Emergency loans available through FSA for area farmers/ranchers.

Emergency loans are now available from the Farm Service Agency for farmers in Pottawatomie and Riley Counties due to the drought that began in mid June and continues.  Marshall and Nemaha Counties are also eligible to apply for these loans according to legislation, which provides farmers in bordering counties that have been designated disaster assistance.  Applications will be accepted until ...

Wheat Harvest is Nearly Complete

  Area elevators report that wheat harvest is nearly complete throughout Kansas.   Beattie Coop reports that wheat harvest is at least 90% complete in Frankfort with yield averaging 40-45 bushel.  Moisture was steady at 11-12 and test weights were running 60-61 pounds.   In Beattie the Coop reports harvest is 95% complete.  According to area farmers yield ran between ...
