Wymore City Council Terminates Police Chief Kilpatrick

Wymore Police Chief Russell E. Kilpatrick, who was placed on paid administrative leave in late June pending an investigation, was released from employment with the city, following action taken after a closed session following the City Council meeting last Wednesday. He had taken the job April 2nd. Details of the investigation were not released.

Injury Accident Reported Near Waterville

An injury accident April 19 in Marshall County was reported on Kansas Highway 9 near Utah Road near Waterville. Karey Cain of Emporia lost control, and her vehicle rolled three times. She was taken to Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

Tractor Theft Reported Near Blue Rapids; Cars Stolen Near Home City

James E. Campbell of Marysville reported a farm tractor valued at $3,000 was stolen from the 1100 block of Kansas Highway 9 in Blue Rapids sometime in early April. Authorities also received a report that miscellaneous vehicles valued at $5,000 belonging to Darrel D. Roever were stolen April 22 or 23 near Home City at 1817 Limestone Road.

Arrest Made In Onaga Burglary; Additional Arrests Possible

An arrest Tuesday in Pottawatomie County was made in connection with an April 24th burglary in Onaga where several firearms were reported stolen. Eighteen-year-old Nathan Bell is in custody on $20,000 bond, as the investigation continues. Additional arrests may be made.

EHV-1 Case Confirmed In Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Agriculture Animal Health Commissioner Dr. Bill Brown today reports that a horse in northeast Kansas has been confirmed positive with a wild type of a non-neurotropic case of Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1).
