KSHSAA Sets 2013-14 Postseason Assignments

The 2013-14 postseason assignments are now available for basketball and wrestling.

Class 1A sub-state seeding will be on Wednesday, February 26. Brackets will be posted after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. All games at the primary host site. Quarterfinal boys games will be on Monday and girls on Tuesday at the primary host site.

Class 2A, 3A sub-state seeding will be on Wednesday, February 26. Brackets will be posted after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Quarterfinal games will be played at the higher seed on Monday, March 3 (Girls class 2A, Boys classes 3A). Tuesday, March 4 (Girls class 3A, Boys class 2A) will play at the higher seed. Semi-finals and finals will be played at the primary site. Thursday – Girls 2A & Boys 3A. Friday – Girls 3A & Boys 2A. Saturday will be girls and boys finals.

Class 4A sub-state seeding will be on Wednesday, February 26. Brackets will be posted after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. All games at the primary host site. Girls games will be on Thursday and Boys on Friday at the primary host site. Saturday will be girls and boys finals.

Class 5A & 6A sub-state seeding will be on Saturday, March 1. Brackets will be posted after 3:00 p.m. Satur­day afternoon. The 8 schools assigned to a site will be divided into 2 sub-state tournaments with all games be­ing played at the higher seeded team. First round games will be played at the higher seeded team on Wednesday, March 5 (Girls 6A, Boys 5A) and Thursday, March 6 (Boys 6A, Girls 5A). Finals will be played at the higher seeded team: Friday – Girls 6A, Boys 5A; Saturday Boys 6A, Girls 5A.

Wrestling regionals will be held February 21-22.

Kansas Volleyball Association Announces All-State Awards

The Kansas Volleyball Association announced their All-State Teams. In Class 1A, Division I Centralia senior Kaitlyn Koch was named First Team, and player of the year. Centralia coach Kimbrook Tennel was named Coach of the Year, Juniors Liz Hasenkamp, Katy Huefler, and Amaris Jones received Second Team honors. Nicole Ohlde of Linn and Jo Roepke of Valley Heights were Honorable Mention.

In Class 1A, Division II, senior Laura Sudbeck of Baileyville B&B was named First Team, and Player of the Year. Baileyville B&B coach Jessica Koch was named Coach of the Year. Seniors Katie Huerter and Ashley Kramer were also First Team selections, senior Cassidy Haug Second Team, and Ashley Buessing of Axtell and Jenny Deters of Baileyville B&B were Honorable Mention.

In Class 2A, junior Erin Alexander of Washington County was named Second Team All-State.
