Nelms Eliminated from Mayoral Race

Micheal Nelms was eliminated from the Marysville Mayoral Race in the results of Tuesday’s primary. The unofficial results show Current Councilman Bill Phillipi with 279 votes, Current Mayor Bernie Krug with 153 votes, Tim Jones received 53 votes and Micheal Nelms received 29 votes. Marshall County election officials report that voter turnout was 23.68 percent.

New Beatrice High School Stadium Approved

?The Beatrice Public School Board has approved the funding for a new 3,600 seat stadium, all purpose Ram Turf field and eight lane 400 meter track at the Beatrice High School. The funding will come from 500,000 dollar Build America Bonds and 500,000 dollars the district has in its construction fund.

Beatrice Plans to Complete Bike Trail to Lincoln this Summer

Beatrice City Administrator, Neal Niedfelt said work will start on a ten mile trail segment of the Homestead Trail which will eventually reach from Lincoln, Nebraska to Marysville, KS. In 2008 Beatrice received a grant for 493,000 dollars from the federal Transportation Enhancement Program. Beatrice will pay twenty percent of the cost through in-kind services. A Washington man was arrested on Saturday after officers were dispatched to 1541 22nd Road for the report of a burglary.
