Gage County Highway and Weed Superintendents Resign

The Beatrice Daily Sun reports the Gage County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting Wednesday afternoon and accepted the resignation of Highway Superintendent Marlin Kliewer and Weed Superintendent Emily Rosenthal. The resignations were effective August 31st. Both Kliewer and Rosenthal were suspended with pay on Aug. 1 amid allegations of discrimination from within the highway department. Kansas Flags to Fly At Half Staff Friday

Flags across Kansas will fly at half-staff Friday in honor of Sergeant Alexander Bennett who died August 6th while serving in Afghanistan. 24-year-old Bennett, of Overland Park, was one of 30 killed when their helicopter crashed after taking enemy fire. Wetmore Man Sentenced for Sex Crime Involving a Child

A Wetmore man convicted of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child has been sentenced to 52 months in prison. KMZA reports that Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says 22-year-old Levi Eisenbarth was sentenced Friday in Jackson County District Court.
