Fugutive Kyle Joekel failed to show up for a court hearing on a pending case in Gage County District Court in Beatrice. Joekel May Be Headed West

Authorities believe 28-year-old Kyle Joekel may have stolen a white 2000 Buick LeSabre from a Beatrice home Sunday, and could be headed to Montana or Wyoming. Joekel is wanted by Marshall County, Kansas for charges related to a pursuit that ended in a wreck in the town of Oketo on August 21st. Read More »

A two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning at the intersection of Court and Sherman streets in Beatrice sent a Beatrice woman to the hospital. Gage County Highway and Weed Superintendents Resign

The Beatrice Daily Sun reports the Gage County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting Wednesday afternoon and accepted the resignation of Highway Superintendent Marlin Kliewer and Weed Superintendent Emily Rosenthal. The resignations were effective August 31st. Both Kliewer and Rosenthal were suspended with pay on Aug. 1 amid allegations of discrimination from within the highway department. Kansas Flags to Fly At Half Staff Friday

Flags across Kansas will fly at half-staff Friday in honor of Sergeant Alexander Bennett who died August 6th while serving in Afghanistan. 24-year-old Bennett, of Overland Park, was one of 30 killed when their helicopter crashed after taking enemy fire.
