Duckwall’s Building Has New Owner

The former Duckwall’s building in Downtown Washington was purchased by Brad and Donna Portenier for $19,000. Brad told the Washington News he has a few different ideas but mostly wants to do something that would create jobs and bring people to town.

Graduation Ceremonies Scheduled

Area schools will hold their graduation ceremonies this weekend.  Axtell will graduate 9 seniors on Saturday at 2 p.m.  B&B Baileyville will graduate 16 seniors at their ceremony on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.  Linn will hand out diplomas to 15 graduates Sunday at 1:00 p.m.  Nemaha Valley graduates 36 students at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.  Washington County graduation ceremony will ...

Onaga Teen Killed In Hunting Accident

An Onaga teenager was accidentally killed Saturday in a hunting accident.  Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat reported the sheriff’s office was contacted at 7:15 a.m. and told there was a gunshot related accident in a rural area near Havensville in Pottawatomie County.
