Kevin Rippe was born in Marysville and moved to Smith Center at the age of 1, then graduated from Smith Center High School in 1995. He graduated from Cloud County Community College in 1997, and joined the staff of KKAN/KQMA radio in Phillipsburg a year later. Since June of 2011 Kevin has been with us here at Your Country KNDY. You can hear Kevin on daily news reports, as well as calling area high school football and basketball. Kevin lives in Marysville with his wife Melissa, and 4 children Brennen, Jacob, Bailee, and Joshua.

July 2012 hottest month on record

July 2012 marked the hottest month on record for the contiguous United States.  Drought expanded to cover nearly 63 percent of the lower 48 while wildfires consumed 2 million acres.   According to NOAA scientists, the average temperature was 77.6 degrees, 3.3 degrees above the 20th Century average.  The previous warmest July for the nation was July 1936 when the average ... Washington County couple receive maximum penalties

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has announced that a Washington County couple has received maximum sentences for child sex crimes.  Troy Jerald Fencil, age 40 of Greenleaf, was sentenced to 218 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.  He pleaded guilty last month to charges of aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties, and sexual exploitation of a child.  Virgina Fencil, ... Diller Opera House renovations complete

The Diller Opera House Committee has completed it’s $50,000 renovation of the social hall.  Improvements included removing old plaster on the walls to expose the brick, new lighting, polishing of the concrete floors, an archway was added, and the bathrooms were redone.  An air conditioning unit and central heating unit were added as well.  The opera house is rented out ... 2012-2013 School year to begin soon.

Enrollment at area schools is happening this week.  Marysville, Washington, Frankfort, Axtell, Diller-Odell, and Wymore Southern schools have been enrolling.  Hanover and  Linn will have enrollment Thursday from Noon to 7 pm and until 3 pm on Friday, while Valley Heights will have enrollment next Monday and Tuesday.  August 15th is the first day of school for Diller-Odell and Wymore ...
