Kevin Rippe was born in Marysville and moved to Smith Center at the age of 1, then graduated from Smith Center High School in 1995. He graduated from Cloud County Community College in 1997, and joined the staff of KKAN/KQMA radio in Phillipsburg a year later. Since June of 2011 Kevin has been with us here at Your Country KNDY. You can hear Kevin on daily news reports, as well as calling area high school football and basketball. Kevin lives in Marysville with his wife Melissa, and 4 children Brennen, Jacob, Bailee, and Joshua.

Firefighters battle grass fire in Jefferson County

Jefferson County Firefighters battled a grass fire Tuesday afternoon about 10 miles southeast of Fairbury that burned nearly 80 acres of prairie grass.  The fire was caused by a Rotary Mower as it struck a rock or something that caused a spark.  High winds added to the challenge of putting the fire out. Ribbon Cutting held at new Big Blue River Bridge

The new U.S. 77 Big Blue River Bridge near Blue Rapids is nearly completed. In a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday afternoon, signs were unveiled designating the bridge as the 1st Lt. Long time Valley Heights VO-AG instructor and well respected FFA advisor Dan Palmateer passed away Sunday morning. He taught at Valley Heights High School for 37 years, from 1974-2011, and was also the girls basketball and track coach at various times throughout his career there.
