Homestead Trail Nears Completion From Beatrice to Lincoln

The Homestead Corridor biking and hiking trail will soon connect Beatrice to Lincoln.  Only 10 miles of trail between Pickrell and Cortland are incomplete.  The trail runs parallell to U.S. 77, and should be completed this summer.   Beatrice has secured funding for the project. Kliewer Loses Discrimination Lawsuit

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled against former Gage County Highway Superintendent Marlin Kliewer in his discrimination suit against the county.   Kliewer, who resigned in August 2011, claimed the Gage County Board of Supervisors, particularly chairman Rex Adams, retaliated against him after he alleged the county was discriminating against former Weed Superintendent Emily Rosenthal because she was female.   ... Prairie Hills USD 113 President Dies from Accident Injuries

63-year-old Roger Brockhoff passed away Thursday at the K-U Medical Center in Kansas City.  He was injured in April 4th explosion at Brockhoff Manufacturing.   Brockhoff and another employee were working on a grain auger when the explosion occurred.
