David Schmitz, Wetmore Attendance Center Principal, is retiring.

Bicycling Across Kansas

Several hundred bicyclists will travel through the area as a part of the Biking Across Kansas Bicycle Event.  The bicyclists will begin their 475-mile journey on Friday ( June 8th) at the Colorado border and end the trek next Friday, ( June 15th ) at the Missouri River bank in Elwood. Three Injured in Alcohol Related Crash

Three people were injured in an accident Thursday night in Nemaha County Nebraska, west of Johnson. The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department report says Tyler Armknecht was eastbound on 731 Road when he apparently lost control of the vehicle he was driving. Wheat Harvest Update

Clay County farmers have just started harvesting in earnest, according to Jim Spector, manager at Farmway Coop in Clay Center. Yields range from 40 to 60 bushels per acre for the most part; test weights average 60 to 61 pounds per bushel and protein ranges from 10 to 11.
