Gage County Assessor Reports 23.5% Increase In Ag Land Values

The Gage County Assessor last week apprised the Board of Supervisors on a 23.5% increase in Ag Land Values in the county. That compares with a 2.5% increase for residential and recreation properties, and a nearly 5% increase in commercial and industrial valuations. The change is due to significantly rising prices paid for agricultural land that is sold. Adjacent counties saw increases ranging ... Injury Accident Reported In Washington County

An injury accident was reported in Washington County April 26th. Charles Ouelette of Washington lost control of his vehicle on upland road, just north of 13th Road. The vehicle went airborne, and hit an embankment. Ouelette was taken to the Washington County Hospital. Read More »

Duplex Fire Reported In Beatrice Friday

A report of $20,000 in damage occurred to a Beatrice residence Friday evening. An apparent kitchen fire was reported at a duplex at 1008-1010 Elk Street. No injuries were reported. Read More »

Dozen Juveniles Charged With Vandalism In Beatrice

As many as a dozen juveniles ages 14-16 are being charged with vandalism amounting to over $6,000 at the former Beatrice Community Hospital building two weeks ago. The facility, which is slated for demolition in 2017, is used for storage. Read More »

An injury accident April 19 in Marshall County was reported on Kansas Highway 9 near Utah Road near Waterville. Karey Cain of Emporia lost control, and her vehicle rolled three times. She was taken to Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville. Read More »

Tractor Theft Reported Near Blue Rapids; Cars Stolen Near Home City

James E. Campbell of Marysville reported a farm tractor valued at $3,000 was stolen from the 1100 block of Kansas Highway 9 in Blue Rapids sometime in early April. Authorities also received a report that miscellaneous vehicles valued at $5,000 belonging to Darrel D. Roever were stolen April 22 or 23 near Home City at 1817 Limestone Road. Read More »

Arrest Made In Onaga Burglary; Additional Arrests Possible

An arrest Tuesday in Pottawatomie County was made in connection with an April 24th burglary in Onaga where several firearms were reported stolen. Eighteen-year-old Nathan Bell is in custody on $20,000 bond, as the investigation continues. Additional arrests may be made. Read More »
