Work Begins On Wind Farm In Marshall County

Preliminary work has begun on a wind farm in northeast Marshall County. The $4.5 million project will include 30 turbines, generating 75 megawatts of power. Thirty-two landowners of some 7,300 acres have leased land to the Iowa developer of the Marshall Wind Energy Farm. A fire early Friday morning around 2 a.m. destroyed a Wymore residence in the 400 block of 5th Street. Brian Pearson, and his 12 year old daughter, who woke to flames in her bedroom, escaped without injury. A Wymore firefighter was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital with a minor hand injury. An injury accident was reported October 17 on Highway K-9 near 25th Road in Marshall County. Barn & Shop Destroyed In Fire Near Barneston Sunday

A barn and shop two miles northwest of Barneston was destroyed by fire Sunday evening around 8:30. Damage estimates topped $100,000 as the structure was totaled, along with tools and miscellaneous inside. A parked combine nearby also sustained minor damage in the fire.
