Overnight Accident Sends Four Area Youth To Hospitals

Four Frankfort youth were critically injured shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday morning, a mile and a half east of Home City. A vehicle driven by 18-year-old Cassey D. Farrant of Frankfort was southbound on 18th Road, and failed to stop at U.S. Highway 36, and struck the trailer of a semi hauling meat driven by 59-year-old Gregory W. Morgan of Beatrice. All four occupants of the Farrant vehicle were taken to area hospitals, the truck driver was not reported injured.

Cassey D. Farrant, age 18, of Frankfort was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. Seventeen-year-old John J. Essman of Frankfort was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Fifteen-year-old Whalen P. Kokuruda of Frankfort and 20-year-old Hunter L. Boyle of Frankfort were both taken to Bryan Memorial West Hospital in Lincoln. None of the four were apparently wearing seat belts.
