USD 113 Prairie Hills School Board met Monday, and voted to put a capital outlay tax, not to exceed 8 mills, on the November ballot. The continuous and permanent levy would allow the district greater flexibility in how outlay funds are used, a provision which was included in recent school finance legislation. A protest petition initiated by Jim Scoby and Dr. Allan Ross, on the issue, was certified last week, and was intended to give patrons an opportunity to decide the proposal at the ballot box.
In other business, it was reported that the sale of the Bern School has been finalized, and an auction of contents at the Summerfield School is set for August 23rd. Following an inquiry as to breaking up the Summerfield School property, it was consensus to see if the parcel could be sold as a whole first, before consenting to breaking it into parcels.
