Eight to as many as ten cars of a Union Pacific coal train derailed at the west edge of Frankfort Monday morning around 9 a.m. The crossing at the west edge of town, Highway K-9 to Blue Rapids, remains closed as cleanup continues. Tumbleweed Road crossing a mile north of Frankfort is also impacted. The south crossing on Highway K-99 was closed temporarily as the train was moved off those tracks. Clean up continues on a train derailment reported Monday morning at the west edge of Frankfort. Only coal cars were involved, with no hazardous materials or injuries involved.
