In honor of Independence Day, the Marysville Chamber of Commerce is excited about their plans for An Old Fashioned 4th of July in 2013. “We hope everyone will join us to celebrate and visit,” said Brenda Staggenborg of the Marysville Chamber of Commerce. “The day will be filled with a family fun run/walk/bike event, a Co-Ed Kickball Tournament for youth and adults, homemade pie, free swimming, and culminate with the fireworks.”
The day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with Walk-Run-Bike 4th at the Blue River Rail Trail. Families can participate in a 1.5 mile Run/Walk, 5K Run/Walk/Bike or 14 mile Bike on the trail. Cost to enter is $25 per person or $50.00 per family (parents & children 16 & under). Entry includes t-shirt, water & light snacks, with music by John Price. Entry forms are available at Marysville Health & Fitness, and on-site registration is available. A Co-Ed Kickball Tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Lakeview Sports Complex. There is a division for Youth 13&under and Adult 14&over. It will be great fun for everyone. Anyone interested in entering should contact the Marysville Chamber of Commerce.
“If you are not participating in the kickball tournament, come out anytime on the 4th and watch those playing in the tournament. The concession stand will be open all day with the usual snacks, plus Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Homemade Pie and Ice Cream – So plan to enjoy lunch, supper or just an afternoon snack with us,” said Staggenborg.
Need some time to cool off and have some fun with the kids? Head to the new Marysville Aquatic Center for free swimming all day on the 4th of July. Free Swimming is sponsored by the City of Marysville.
The evening will culminate with the annual Fireworks Display at 9:45 p.m. at Lakeview Sports Complex. The fireworks are sponsored by the City of Marysville and 2 Kirks Fireworks.
