KVA All-Star Volleyball Match Held In Topeka

June 7, 2014, Topeka, KS — The Kansas Volleyball Association held its 29th annual All Star Match on June 7 at Washburn University in Topeka. The Blue Team defeated the Red Team in five games by the scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-16, 24-26, and 15-12. Leading the Blue Team in kills was Paige Regnier of McPherson High School with 12. Madison Fletcher of Blue Valley West High School also added 11 kills. Hannah Billings of Mill Valley High School led the Blue Team in assists with 50, while Mattison Dusin of Phillipsburg High School contributed 4 assists. The Blue Team was led by Danae Bina of Hillsboro High School with 16 digs and Madison Fletcher of Blue Valley West High School chipped in with 14 digs. Janae Barnes of McPherson High School led the Blue Team in blocks with 4 total blocks. Danae Bina of Hillsboro High School added 2 aces.

The Red Team was led by Arianna Person of St. James Academy with 14 kills. Perrin Spears of Valley Center High School contributed 9 kills. Moira Pyle of McPherson High School led the Red Team in assists with 42. The Red Team was led in digs by Moira Pyle of McPherson High School with 18 and Addie Barry of Hayden High School added 17. Jessie Kujawa of Manhattan High School led in blocks with 4 total blocks. Person, Barry, and McKenzie Turner of Wamego High School each contributed 1 service ace.

The K.V.A. also presented four of its annual awards at the conclusion of the match. Arianna Person of St. James Academy received the Joan Lundstrom Wells Award of Excellence. The Flo Hyman Scholarship was awarded Danae Bina of Hillsboro High School . Madison Fletcher of Blue Valley West High School received the Judy Bellomo Most Inspirational Award. The Don Bechard Scholarship was awarded to Paige Regnier of McPherson High School.
