A celebration commemorating the Centennial Kansas White Way car run is planned Saturday. The auto tour begins simultaneously at 8 a.m. in Concordia from the Brown Grand Opera House, and in Atchison from the county historical society museum, meeting in Frankfort at 2 p.m. for a commemoration ceremony. The event marks a grass root effort in 1914 that covered the same route, then designated as the Kansas White Way, today known as Kansas Highway 9. Originally white bands were painted on sign posts along the road marking the route through northeast Kansas. Additional details are online at http://kswhiteway.wordpress.com.
