Marshall County Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes – March 24

The Board of Marshall County Commissioners met in regular adjourned session with Thomas K. Holle Chairman; Charles R. Loiseau and Robert S. Connell members and Sonya L. Stohs, County Clerk present.

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.

The Board opened the meeting with the flag salute.

The minutes and agenda were approved as presented upon a motion by Charles R. Loiseau seconded by Robert S. Connell. Unanimous.

Robert S. Connell moved, seconded by Thomas K. Holle to go into executive session for ten minutes at 9:04 a.m. to discuss matters of non-elected personnel with County Clerk Sonya L. Stohs present. Unanimous.

Robert S. Connell moved, seconded by Thomas K. Holle to approve the following purchase orders. Unanimous.

  • First Call Morgue, LLC., Kansas City, KS for 3 autopsies. $2,325.00-General (Coroner) fund-P.O. # 4634.
  • Computer Information Concepts, Greeley, CO for annual peopleware agreement. $9,460.00-Register of Deeds Tech fund-P.O. # 4633.
  • WatchGuard, Dallas, TX for camera maintenance protection. $750.00-General (Sheriff) fund-P.O. # 4528.
  • Blue Valley Telecommunication, Home, KS for sonicwall. $653.21-General (Sheriff) fund-P.O. # 4527.

Robert S. Connell moved, seconded by Charles R. Loiseau to approve the Neighborhood Revitalization application for Dewaine and Mary Ann Heinen, Blue Rapids, KS with the preconstruction pictures that were provided by the applicant. Unanimous.

Public Works Administrator Mike Craig and Public Works Coordinating Supervisor Larry Polson met with the Board to report that there will be 13 miles of road scheduled for chip sealing this year.

Public Works Administrator Mike Craig also discussed a road application process called Invia Lynx Pavement Technology that Hall Brothers could apply to the roads.

Dennis Mason, Marysville met with the Board to discuss the use of Hedstrom Hall for the Recycling program in Marysville. The building is owned by the City of Marysville.

Vicky Gross, met with the Board to discuss recycling program being a tax benefit to the people donating the recycling.

Carla Grund, Marysville met with the Board.

Public Works Administrator Mike Craig met with the Board to have thank you letters to Berry Tractor and Norm Bowers signed by the Board.

County Attorney Laura Johnson-McNish met with the Board.

Sheriff Daniel A. Hargrave met with the Board.

Charles R. Loiseau moved, seconded by Robert S. Connell to allow County employees to use four hours of funeral leave to attend the funeral of Deputy Brian Kenworthy that will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Blue Rapids Gym. Unanimous. Some County offices will be closed all day for the funeral but the Courthouse will be open to the public.

Charles R. Loiseau moved, seconded by Robert S. Connell to adjourn at 12:02 a.m. Unanimous. The next scheduled meeting will be Monday, March 31, 2014 starting at 9:00 a.m.
