Area Sending 9 High School Basketball Teams To State Tournaments

The sub-state basketball tournaments are complete, and teams are now heading to the KSHSAA State Championship Tournaments next week. Teams from across the KNDY AM & FM listening area, 9 in total, are headed to the big dance. Brackets, times and locations will be announced later in the week.

BOYS TEAMS

Clifton-Clyde Boys are headed to 1A DI State, after defeating Osborne 68-59.

Baileyville B&B Boys are headed to 1A DII State, after defeating Axtell 40-38.

Nemaha Valley Boys are headed to 3A State, after defeating Sabetha 47-35.

Valley Heights Boys are headed to 1A DI State, after defeating Centralia 42-41.

Washington County Boys are headed to 2A State, after defeating Republic Co. 56-49.

GIRLS TEAMS

Washington County Girls are headed to 2A State, after defeating Ell-Saline 46-36.

Valley Heights Girls are headed to 1A DI State, after defeating Linn 57-42.

Baileyville B&B Girls are headed to 1A DII State, after defeating Axtell 40-38.

Nemaha Valley Girls are headed to 3A State, after defeating Marysville 36-33.

About Derek Nester

Derek Nester was born and raised in Blue Rapids, and graduated from Valley Heights High School in May of 2000. He attended Cowley College in Arkansas City and Johnson County Community College in Overland Park studying Journalism & Media Communication. After stops at KFRM and KCLY radio in Clay Center, he joined KNDY in 2002 as a board operator and play by play announcer. Derek is now responsible for the digital content of Dierking Communications, Inc. 6 radio stations. In 2005 Derek joined the staff of KCFX radio in Kansas City as a production assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, which airs on 69 radio stations across 9 Midwest states.
