State Representative Sharon Schwarz of Washington recently testified for a bill that would require power transmission line projects to undergo a review by the Kansas Electric Transmission Authority before proceeding to the Kansas Corporation Commission. The proposed legislation was prompted by the K.C.C. granting a Certificate of Convenience to Clean Line Energy, which plans to build an electric transmission line from southwest Kansas to states further east. The line would cut through Washington, Marshall, and Nemaha counties, and has raised concern from local landowners. Kansas Farm Bureau also came out in support of the measure.
