Beatrice City Council Half-Cent Sales Tax Increase Faces February Vote

A half-cent sales tax increase proposed by the Beatrice City Council now faces a final vote on February 3rd, which would advance the question to the May Primary Election Ballot. City Council this week approved wording of the ballot question, 95% of the proceeds of which would be used for public infrastructure, road, and street projects in the City of Beatrice. Currently at 7%, the increase would be for a ten year period. An Interlocal Agreement with Gage County to dedicate 5% of the funds for a joint project, which is currently 33rd Street near the cemetery in east Beatrice.
